Thank You To Mellow Mushroom Germantown

A HUGE thank you to Mellow Mushroom Germantown for all of their support during our October Spirit Night. They donated 15% back to the PTO for a whopping $800 donation! We are so appreciative of them for everything they have donated and helped with not only for Forest Hill but all of GMSD. Thank you to all of our families who came out and supported Mellow Mushroom and the FHES PTO that night!

FHES Teachers Receive Tenure Status

During the October GMSD School Board Meeting, Forest Hill Elementary School teachers Andrea Dancy (KDG), Mira Ehrhardt (RTI Coach), and Ashley Rotenberry (3rd Grade) were recognized for earning one of the highest professional educator distinctions that can be granted to a teacher - Tenure Status.

Earning Tenure Status is no small feat! These educators have served the required probationary status of working in a TN public school for at least five years and have proven continued success as a classroom teacher by earning Level of Effectiveness scores of either above expectations or significantly above expectations within their last two years of teaching on a probationary status.

These level of effectiveness scores are determined through classroom and professional evaluations as well as student achievement and growth data. The GMSD School Board along with the support of Superintendent Manuel and Principal Percoski officially granted tenure status to these FHES Teachers for their exceptional instructional abilities.

Congratulations to Mrs. Dancy, Mrs. Ehrhardt, and Mrs. Rotenberry on this professional achievement!

FHES Foxes Impress TN Education Commissioner
During a recent visit to Shelby County, Forest Hill Elementary School was proud to welcome Tennessee Education Commissioner, Penny Schwinn.

She interacted with both virtual and campus foxes on Wed., Sept. 2.

The Commercial Appeal quoted the Commissioner saying Forest Hill set the standard for the entire country in what reopening schools should look like.

"I literally could not think of anything else they could do. So if we're thinking about opening schools, it should look like this," she said. "They've done a beautiful job."

Message from Mrs. Gilbert, New Assistant Principal
Hello Fox Family!

I am so excited to join Forest Hill Elementary this year as an additional Assistant Principal along with Mrs. Pickens! I’m really looking forward to getting to know each of you and thought I would tell you a little bit about myself. I have had the pleasure of teaching in four different states and am coming most recently from Collierville Schools. But there is nowhere I’d rather be than here!

I have two boys who keep me very busy: Gavin who is a Junior, and Landon who will be in eighth grade. We love basketball (Go Grizz!), college football (Go UGA Dawgs!), and doing just about anything outdoors! I also have three dogs: Georgia (Lab), Remy (German Shepherd), and Montego (Weenie Dog). If you’re thinking the name Montego sounds familiar, it may be you recognize him as the winner of last year’s "Weenie Dog Costume Contest" at the Germantown Festival. He’s quite the local celebrity as you can see in his picture below.

Speaking of celebrities, my husband and I both starred in the show "Bluff City Law" last fall! Okay, starred may be a stretch. But if you don’t blink, you can catch me walking through the Collierville town square and see Mr. Gilbert as a bailiff.

On a more serious note, I'm sure we will face many unknowns in the year ahead of us. But one thing you can be sure of is that I will be there to support you and your family in any way I can!

I can't wait to meet you,
Caroline Gilbert

Hello Foxes,
